Noura.. from Alula to Cannes

Noura… A Saudi feature film that tells the story of a girl full of ambition, joy and love of art in a remote Saudi village. In the nineties, Noura spends most of her time away from the rigidity of village life. Her unlimited mind urges her to get out of that life, and her exceptional ambitions that she used to draw in her imagination were colored by “Nader”, a teacher who came from the city to that village, to complete that picture with two people who find each other and discover the voice of creativity and art within them. Through his attempt to draw Noura, he revives his artistic talents within him and in turn awakens her talents that she aspired to.

Starting with the place and its terrain, where the beauty of AlUla is a fertile environment for filmmaking and attracting production projects that want to benefit from the climate and logistical and financial support from (Film AlUla), which in turn encouraged talents to experiment with art that can change society. Perhaps AlUla is the ideal background for a story like Noura, passing through the Saudi dialect and ending with the events that make you feel like you are among them with complete transparency, depicting a reality lived by the children of that generation to shed light on the insistence of some creative and innovative minds to go beyond the norm despite the circumstances.

In an unprecedented achievement, the Saudi film “Noura”, supported by the Red Sea Film Foundation, was able to reach the Cannes Film Festival to become the first Saudi film to achieve this achievement, and this is enough to be an acknowledgment of the richness of our Saudi cinematic talents.

The work is tremendous because it conveyed Saudi culture to be welcomed by the global cinema community, as the talents are present, the support is continuous, and the creativity is unparalleled.
